The running was so close in Valencia on Saturday afternoon that pretty much anyone in the top 10 could have clinched pole. But at the flag it was Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel who emerged the fastest — and by some margin. With just a single hot lap in Q3, Vettel captured his 3rd pole position of the season and the 33rd pole of his career, tying Alain Prost and the late Jim Clark for 3rd all time in Formula One.
