In the 1990 U.S. Grand Prix, a street race in Phoenix, Arizona, Ayrton Senna (McLaren MP4/5B) had to come from behind after young French driver Jean Alesi almost stole the season’s opening event in what would have been a major upset for his relatively under-funded Tyrrell team.
