Vettel Controls Race in Spain to Win Fourth GP in Five

Vettel—Spain 2011

For the first time in 10 years, the driver who started on pole did not win the Spanish Grand Prix yesterday at Catalunya. Thanks to DRS, KERS and new tires, here was a lot of passing going on, but the winner and man in second place crossed the finished line 0.6 seconds apart, a position to which they had been glued for the last dozen laps of the 66-lap race.

Part of that, said Lewis Hamilton, who finished second, was because the Red Bull ahead of him was just faster than his McLaren. Coming through the melee with a near-perfect drive from second on the grid to win his fourth out of five races this season was the reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel.
