Today marks the 22nd anniversary of Michael Schumacher’s first podium finish in Formula 1 at the 1992 Mexican Grand Prix — a feat that he would go on to repeat a further 154 times across the next 20 years of his illustrious career.

In the race, Nigel Mansell won from a narrow pole (just .016 over teammate Ricardo Patrese) by 13s from Patrese, with Michael putting his Benetton-Ford B192 into 3rd place over Gerhard Berger’s McLaren-Honda, all the field having been lapped.
