Roman Polanski’s Weekend Of A Champion

Stewart & Wife--Monaco 1970

It’s another documentary about Formula One, this time filmed by legendary director Polanski in 1971 at Monaco. Now restored, re-cut and extended. The YouTube trailer and preview look excellent.

A long-forgotten documentary film from 1972 that has recently resurfaced is putting a fresh perspective on the Formula One of 40 years ago. Produced by the Oscar-winning filmmaker Roman Polanski and directed by the late Frank Simon, the film had only a limited release, in England and Germany, in 1972. But a restored and re-edited version was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May and was released in the United States this week.
