F1 impressario Bernie Ecclestone is now saying that significant upgrades to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal are needed before he will agree to extend Formula One’s deal with Canada past 2014. Yes, it appears Bernie Eccelstone really is determined to get rid of all the great Formula 1 tracks and replace them with the Bahrains and Koreas of the world. As the Quebec French paper La Press headlined, “Ecclestone veut plus d’argent” (Ecclestone wants more money).
As I’ve believed for years, in F1 today it’s all about the money.
