Tavo Hellmud With Sir Jackie Stewart
The inaugural USGP at Austin, scheduled for November 2012, is imperiled again by litigation, on top of track construction delays. The race may not be dead, but appears to be on life support.
Tavo Hellmund, once the face of the Austin GP — Circuit of The Americas — project, and his company, Full Throttle Productions, have filed a lawsuit against track investors Bobby Epstein and Red McCombs and other companies now controlling the $300 million project under construction in Travis County, Texas. The civil suit filed in state court does not specify damages but says Hellmund had an agreement for an $18 million buyout that was not fulfilled and that he was scheduled to make US$500,000 a year for 10 years as chairman of the United States Grand Prix.

Hellmund may be a good guy with great intentions, but has no contract with Formula One any longer. His friend Bernie Ecclestone canceled it.
