Conserving Tires Explained By Martin Brundle

This is the 5th in a series of technology-oriented video posts featuring the BBC and commentator (now Sky Sports) Martin Brundle demistifying the engineering world of Formula One. They are excellent for novices but still quite interesting for enthusiasts.

In the embedded clip below, Brundle covers the issue of conserving tires, a race management skill that became quite important to F1 in 2011 with the introduction of rapidly-degrading Pirellis.
