The F1 Battle Is Only Just Beginning

We are living in a new “golden years” era of Formula One. After the 2008 (last race, last lap, lap corner), 2009 (Brawn GP) and 2010 (Seb Vettel, again in the last race) seasons, cynical fans — and current drives from Fernando Alonso to Jenson Button — said the drivers’ title had already been put way.  After all, Vettel came out of the box “like a scalded cat with a rocket strapped to his back” and scorched to an early championship lead, winning the first two races in Australia and Malaysia. Since Canada in June, though, the season has really heated up. Despite Vettel winning at the European GP, there were three different winners in the next three races; Alonso in Great Britain, Lewis Hamilton in Germany and Button in Hungary.

So after the August break it’s on to notoriously mercurial Spa-Francorchamps, where anything can happen. This exciting F1 season it probably will!

Don’t dare think Vettel has this year’s title in his backpack. There’s a long way to go yet and the chasing back are starting to get on their respective games.

The season may be half over but the race for the crown is just starting.
